Leadership Tuesdays--July 2011

2nd Edition

In the very first introduction to Leadership Tuesdays, a quote from the book, Becoming A Leader (2009), by Myles Monroe was used to illustrate one of the key premises of this program:   Everyone has the potential to lead.  Dr. Munroe stated that, “there is a leader in everyone waiting to serve his or her generation." This quote helps to dispel the myth that only certain people can be leaders and supports the thinking that people must discover and cultivate their innate leadership abilities and styles.

Although we cannot all be leaders at the same time, at any given moment in life we may be called upon to lead.  Further, as Vashti McKenzie states in this short inspirational message, we must examine ourselves for self-sabotage and excuses.  Next, we must recognize the socialization that that diminishes leadership skills in women, minorities, and children, and encourage and train them to be effective leaders.  With all the problems in the world, this generation needs great leaders.  It needs YOU!
