Viola Davis is an Oscar, Emmy, and two-time Tony award winning actress with a more than 30 year career in film, television and the stage. This Julliard trained actor is a natural force to be reckon with and has thrilled audiences with her performances in Doubt, The Help, Fences (film and theater), King Hedley II and the current television weekly drama series, How To Get Away With Murder. In addition to acting, Davis is a producer and through JuVee Productions, a company she owns with her husband Julius Tennon, she has debuted the docuseries Two Sides, the digital series American KOKO, and film Lila & Eve. Upcoming projects include a biographical story of the life of Congresswoman Barbara Jordan.


Davis is well known for her stirring oratory and memorable award speeches. She along with her husband and daughter, Genesis, live in Los Angles California.

"When Given An Opportunity" (Clip)
The MPAA's John Gibson shares a story about Ryan Coogler, the director of the highly successfully film Black Panther, and how they came to meet at the American Black Film Festival. He also talks about Ryan's special visit to Washington, D.C. for a screening of "Fruitvale Station", his first highly acclaimed film. He then stresses the importance of minorities and women like Coogler and Wonder Woman Director Patty Jenkins getting an opportunity to tell their stories.
