Nakeisha Neal
Civic Leadership

Nakeisha Neal is a community builder with nearly 20 years of progressive experience helping diverse groups recognize assets and expand resources.  She is currently Executive Director and a 1997 Alumna of Public Allies Washington, DC, a movement that advances diverse new leaders to strengthen nonprofits, communities and civic participation. 

Prior to Public Allies, Nakeisha worked in the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development where she managed the human services and resident engagement strategy for over 1000 residents in four public housing communities.  She has also launched an executive certificate program for nonprofit leaders; provided training and technical assistance to groups working on juvenile justice and housing issues; and strengthened the overall impact of federal dollars for local juvenile justice and delinquency prevention efforts.

Nakeisha earned her undergraduate degree in Public Policy from Duke University, and received a Master’s degree in Public Policy from Georgetown University. Nakeisha is an active volunteer in her community and enjoys endurance sports.  She has completed a marathon, a triathlon and several shorter races.
