"We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give"

Winston Churchill

These words best describe, Executive-Director and Founder, Carolyn Washington, of Sisters4Sisters, Inc. This non-profit organization, founded in 1999, is dedicated to the Empowerment and Transformation of Women and Girls in Mind, Body and Spirit.

A native of North Carolina, Carolyn has a heart for the healing and restoration of Women and Girls in transition. As an only child who was sexually abused in her youth she felt a need to provide a Voice and an Answer for those whose lives were filled with abuse, hurt, pain, loneliness and feelings of abandonment. She always felt a great passion to help those less fortunate. Washington , a graduate of Howard University’s School of Communications (1984),has always been an advocate for those less fortunate, even during her undergraduate studies. Her sense of divine purpose encouraged her to join Delta Sigma Theta Sorority while a student at Howard University.

After nearly 20 years in Marketing and Executive Sales with Xerox Corporation, Bell Atlantic (Now Verizon) and Exxon Corporation, Carolyn realized the call on her life was much greater than her role in Corporate America. In 1999 Carolyn founded Sisters4Sisters, Inc., as a book club for women with personal life challenges and concerns. After the very first meeting the need for Women Support Services became apparent and the organization with purpose was birthed. Today the organization is committed to empowering women and girls in mind body and spirit through empowering monthly workshops and seminars in the areas of personal and professional development while engaging community outreach in the areas of Homelessness, Poverty, HIV-AIDS, Domestic Violence Awareness, young girls mentoring and issues which adversely touch the hearts of women.

Since its’ inception in 1999, Sisters4Sisters, Inc., has engaged more than 2,840 Volunteers and Partners who have donated more than 47,000 hours of Service impacting more than 73,000 Women and Girls whose lives are touched by Domestic Violence, HIV-AIDS and Young Girls Mentoring.

Although, Washington is active throughout her community she nonetheless maintains her priorities as a devoted wife and mother. Along with her vital role as Founder and Executive Director of Sisters4Sisters, Inc. she is a proud member of Reid Temple AME Church and serves as the Publisher of WIN-Women Inspired News, a news magazine dedicated to encouraging and uplifting the hearts of women. Carolyn is the proud mother of Camille Mikayla and William Carson, as well as the wife of William Washington.
